FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING OUR PARTIES:
Q: How do the presentations work exactly?
A: Upon arriving, all that has to be provided is a small area large enough to keep 10 small animal carriers (about a 2’x4’ space) and a table/outlet if you are including the photo option. We ask that your group be seated in a circle (either on chairs or on the ground). We will then place a small tarp in the middle, and dispense hand sanitizer to each child. The Animal Adventures handler will then introduce himself and the show begins! Each animal is taken out of their carrier and is passed around the circle for the children to touch and see. While this is happening the handler will dispense interesting facts regarding each animal. At the end of the presentation we will again pass out hand sanitizer, while doing this we will answer any last-minute questions. If you opted to include the photo package, this is when we will begin lining the children up. Before leaving, we place our tarp in the garbage can and do a once over to ensure nothing was left behind. On the extremely rare occasion when something is left behind, we will either pull out our Lysol wipes or Resolve carpet cleaner (provided) We leave nothing behind but smiles (For both the kids AND mom/dad!)
Q: Can “Animal Adventures” perform for a larger audience (50+ attendees) in an auditorium setting? Can they do multiple shows?
A: Absolutely! We have the necessary audio equipment We can do up to 3 one-hour presentations in a row before our animals become stressed. In this situation we as that you give us a 60 minute break after 3 hours. Please keep in mind that pricing for these types of shows will be significantly higher.
Q: Is an “Animal Adventures” presentation appropriate for an older audience? Say a High school/college level group? Or an adult living facility?
A: Again, Absolutely! We custom tailor our presentations to each group. Kids of any age will enjoy our educational, yet fun demonstrations, no matter the age. These shows offer a unique break of monotony in the lives of students as well as senior citizens living in adult homes.
Q: Is an “Animal Adventures” presentation appropriate for a younger audience (Under 3)?
A: We prefer doing our presentations for any group over 3 as we do dispense a great deal of information. We also have several interactive hands-on demonstrations as well. AA presentations tend to be best for children 3 years of age and older. We cannot emphasize this enough. Children in this age group do not seem to have the attention span needed for a 45 minute presentation.
Q: I have guests at my party who are not animal savvy!
A: Not a problem! Before the presentation begins, we ask that only those interested in touching the animals sit in the circle or toward the front (Depending on the room being used). This allows these guests plenty of time to move to the back-while simultaneously allowing them the opportunity to enjoy the show without having to get too close
Q: Aren’t exotic animals dangerous?
A: In the wrong hands they can be. That is why we are licensed to exhibit them in public settings. However, all of our animals are personal pets and actually prefer human interaction than interaction with their own kind! Only animals that do well in captivity and enjoy interacting with people are used
Q: What are your company’s qualifications? What makes you unique?
A: With over 10 years experience in keeping and handling exotic animals, AA is a leading authority in the exotic animal field. Our animals have been featured on television with world-renowned pet expert, Marc Morrone. With him, Mr. Jacinto brings a contagious aura of enthusiasm and knowledge to every party he does. He has been awarded prestigious permits and licenses from both the USDA and NYSDEC. We utilize unique animals in our programs that you would otherwise have to go to a zoo to see. Our South American Agouti, for example, is one of only two on Long Island!
Q: Will these animals expose guests and myself to disease?
A: All our the animals come equipped with health certificates from a licensed veterinarian that state they are free from disease. Each animal sees our veterinarian annually and each receives nothing but the best of care (They are healthier than most people!) In addition all the animals utilized are captive born (never taken from the wild) which in itself insures healthy animals
Q: Can food/beverages be served during a presentation?
A: We ask that no food/beverages be served during a presentation. Not only is this unhygienic, the scent of food can make some of our animals jumpy.
Q: What type of animals do you use exactly?
A: Please see our “Animal Profiles” page
Q: Do you offer any type of photo option?
A: A great way for your child to remember this special day! For an additional fee, we will happily take photos with each child with either Sangria (our friendly 6″ snake!) or Darlene (our giant rabbit!). Photos are printed out within seconds of being taken. “Animal Adventures” provides all the necessary equipment, all that is required is an outlet and table. For more information regarding pricing for this option, please feel free to call us at (631) 642-9222.
***EVERY PARTY PACKAGE INCLUDES 1 FREE SOUVENIR PHOTO FOR THE BIRTHDAY CHILD***
Q: How does the photo option work exactly?
A: Prior to our show, we will set up a small area with a lap top and printer, which takes about 10 minutes. All that we request is an accessible outlet and table. Once the presentation is complete, we will ask the children to line up. At that point, they get to choose the animal they want their photo with (rabbit or snake) and each photo is printed out within seconds of being taken (PLEASE NOTE: the photo option will add about 30 minutes to a party).
Q: Can the presentation length be altered?
A: Absolutely. We offer a condensed program of about 30 Minutes, featuring only 3-4 animals.
Q: Can I have an Outdoor party?
A: We actually prefer outdoor parties when possible (we assume our clients do as well!) However, we only offer outdoor parties from April-October. In addition, If outdoor temperatures rise above 80 degrees, we reserve the right to request the party be moved indoors (with proper air conditioning-not fans) or to cancel our presentation with a full refund. Another option is to reschedule the presentation for another day (all that we ask is 24 hours notice)
Q: I am a third grade teacher and am currently teaching my class about the rain forest, would a visit from AA help be beneficial?
A: Absolutely. We offer a great hands-on program where children will be both delighted and interested. When visiting schools, we tend to work around the NYS education curriculum in the information we offer. Again, we can offer a custom-tailored presentation to any group; just let us know!
Q: Where are the animals kept when not doing shows? Can I come see them?
A: Our animals are kept at our private facility located in Port Jefferson Unfortunately, due to insurance reasons, we cannot allow touring of this facility.
Q: Can I choose which animals come to the party?
A: Unforutnately we cannot accomodate requests. Our animals require rest which is why they are frequently rotated. We will make every effort to ensure that our most popular animals (monkey, snake, wallaby) are available for your party but cannot guarantee that any one animal will be available for the date of your presentation. However, we pomise that to provide you with a unique mix of animals found nowhere else on Long Island!
***PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO BRING THE SNAKE (OUR MOST POPULAR ANIMAL) AS WE DO NOT USE HIM IN EVERY PRESENTATION!***
Q: I have an exotic animal that I can no longer handle, has grown too large, etc; will AA take it?
A: We understand that circumstances arise where you are no longer able to care for your exotic pets and will gladly take them in-PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE YOUR PET INTO THE WILD! In the event that we cannot permanently place your exotic pet (anything other than a dog or cat) in our program, we will gladly take your pet and adopt him/her out to qualified receipients. Through the years we have made friends with various long island herpetologists, zoo keepers, animals breeders, etc. who are always looking for new animals. Even if you are in possession of an illegal animal, please contact us as we promise to keep your information confidential. One of AA’s main goals is to end exotic pet overpopulation. This is your chance to give your pet a good home, without having to worry about being judged, please feel free to E-MAIL me, Nicholas Jacinto @ Petxpert8@aol.com detailing:
1) Species
